I saw this post and wondered what size the bases are. TMP link

I have been experimenting with basing 3 and 6 mm figures but my bases do not seem to look like this. ??? Not sure why.

I'd say 60x30mm- They look like(4-strip) Baccus to me.

But that's just a studied guess.

Good eye! Looking at some of MacPhee's earlier posts one finds this: link

I'm with Beast on this. Those guys look to be on the larger, more individual end of "6mm" and not the smaller formerly 5mm end, and there are 12 in a rank. I can put 12 H&R on a 50mm/2" stand, but for Baccus you need 60mm, which is what Baccus sells castings and bases rules around, and a depth of half the frontage looks right, so Baccus or similar on 60x30 stands.

And Walking Sailor confirmed my guess before I posted it. Odd that I should be thinking of 5/6mm as a "compromise" scale between the big, clunky 15/18mm and the tiny 2 and 3mm.

Definitely Baccus which are 4 figures to a 20mm wide strip. Baccus are closer to 8mm anyway. Lovely figures but not really "true 6mm"

Thanks fellows. Those bases are definitely bigger than anything I have tried. My largest were 2 1/2 and I thought going larger would be too much but I am wrong. I really like those.

If Baccus are 8mm (my figs are all SF) whose are true 6mm? I am going to measure what I have which came from O8 and Brigade.

H&R are truer to 6mm.

Hello Allen57!

This can be a bit confusing as 6mm is not an actual scale but a size or measurement. There are presently about a dozen companies that sell figures in this market and some match up pretty well while others are clearly different in size. So if your looking for compatibility then you can only do so by obtaining samples from the companies that interest you. I have bought figures from four different companies and use them together. I just don't put different figures on the same base.

For most of the Horse & Musket period Baccus has sold a ton of 60mm x 30mm bases. My collection of 50,000 figures is all based this way.

Hope this helps you out in some way.

Best regards,

Glenn
