Have to go with three: Donald Featherstone for the books and inspiration rather than the rules Michael Blake and Steve Curtis for their skirmish rules John Tunstill – author of Discovering Wargames, a small book of rules for several periods. After that I bought and played many rules, and tinkered with all of them. |

I was influenced more by the first rule set I was introduced to than anyone. I grew to learn names of Donald Featherstone, etc. and read some of the books written by the famous, but it was more of a coalescence of all things taken in than one person drawing me in to it. I played different rules sets and learned such things as "game mechanics" as part of my education in gaming. |

Don Featherstone and Bruce Quarrie. Bruce seems to get overlooked these days, but he published a fair amount of stuff. His day job as an editor for the publishers PSL only made his influence wider due to the number of wargamery-type titles they put out! |

Bob Brynildson When he was owner of Legacy Games in Saint Paul ( Now The Source). I walked into his store when I was a kid and he invited me to play a KV-2 in a skirmish game on the store sand table. I had a blast and was hooked! |
