maybe that particular plane was built in the last year of production for AT-6…i.e 1963-64 and not really a WW2 era aircraft. |

Why is it painted in Luftwaffe markings? It's supposed to have JAPANESE markings!

In case you didn't get the joke: those pictures all show modified AT-6 Texans. The AT-6 was used as the basis for faking movie warbirds in the '70s, modified to look like Zeroes, Kates, P-47s, a Fokker DXXI, etc. As you can see above, some of those modified airframes look pretty stellar. - Ix |
