Thank you, Armand. Worthwhile topic. It would be more impressive if the author had proof-read. And, sadly, I am deeply suspicious of an academic rushing to support the Academy's cause du jour. Desertion is caused by inequality? I find poor conditions of service, rising fear of death and a perceived lack of serious consequences sufficient to explain the cases I'm familiar with. I would be surprised if they did not explain the others. |

That was a draft for comment. The actual paper was published in a journal (and was considerably more polished). "Desertion is caused by inequality? I would be surprised if they did not explain the others." Then analyze the data set and prove it. In any case, you misunderstood the conclusions. The differences in desertion rates are being explained, not the factors that affect all forces. |
