Being October, it was time for the Second Saturday Scrum Club to play its seasonal horror game, a reprise of RUN FROM THE DEAD. Brains were eaten, good times were had… Read about the game and see lots more photos at my blog, Scrum in Miniature: link

Nicely done. If I ever do zombies, I think t will be in 15mm. To me, you need hundreds of the things roaming about. |

Nice set up, agree you need lots of zombies to run from. |

Thanks, gents! Yep, 15mm was the only way I was confident I would be able to acquire and paint up enough zombies for the games I wanted to run (100 or more on the board at a time). |

That looks great! What building is the church with arched windows? Two Hour Wargames All Things Zombie is another good rule set that supports single and coop play as well as some light RPG/campaigning. |

Every man for themselves maybe more 'realistic' in an Apoc situation, but I'd still prefer co-op games if I had the choice. That was something I like'd about the rules you were talking about. I love 28mm, especially for skirmish games, (great eye candy) but more & more, Im thinking, for a really good Zombie game, 15's may be THE way to go. Great set up. How big is that (thats an enclosed game board)? Your autos Matchbox / Hotwheels? Its one more reason for 15's. |

Thanks for the kind words, everybody… JAMEURP: You can read about the prep I did for all of the buildings I used in the game at my post from Oct. 2017: link Luckily, I actually had a picture of the box that church came in…
PART TIME GAMER: Yeah, I game in 28mm in every other genre, but I knew I'd want hordes of zombies, and 15mm seemed to choice in terms of cost, speed to paint, and ease of storage. The cars aren't actually Hot Wheels but in fact a little smaller (and better scaled to 15mm). I bought them from an eBay seller in China; I got a bag of 100 of them for something like $15. USD They're made of plastic, making it easy to "damage" a lot of them (see below).
In terms of the board, you can see the link to last year's post up top for how and why I approach the board the way I did. It ends up that it's 30 inches square, though you could get away with just 24" at 15mm (at least according to the beta rules). I built this two-sided board because the game uses coordinates for lots of "events" (new zombies appearing, etc.), and the numbered "rails" on each side speeds up play. I painted one side a dirty grey for an urban setting, and I painted the other side a patchy green and brown for the outdoors/woodland scenario I cooked up.
The grey/"urban" side above… …and the "woodland" color scheme below…

Wow, that table setup looks perfect for gaming an AVP Requiem scenario! Dan |

One of the players and fellow Scrum Club member posted his own photos and reflections on the game. It's worth checking out on his blog: link

nice to see someone put effort into getting the right scale cars… |

This looks fab. When is the ruleset released? |
The Bibliophile | 23 Oct 2019 5:05 p.m. PST |
Thanks, Stepman3! Prepping the cars for the game was a lot of fun. Spendlove: I'm surprised Ganesha Games hasn't released it yet…the draft I used to beta-test and run these games wouldn't take a lot more work to finalize. |

Came back for another look. RE: the cars being a "bit smaller' thank 'Hotwheels' ect., so wondering, they could have come from a model train shop originally. IIRC, most of those are just simple but well done plastic. Much preferred (IMHO), less wt, easier to paint, convert. And if closer to 15mm a total win, win situation. |
