Most of the experienced painters here probably already know this trick, but I've been doing a lot of freehand shield work lately and wrote up this quick tutorial on how I transfer designs to the shield to make them turn out halfway decent.

I'm impressed!

I just do things freehand, working on the assumption that the figures will be looked at from three or four feet. But I might try your idea if I want to do a "special". Thanks.

I color laser printed mine out on regular paper, cut them out, then I used Mod Podge to decopage them onto my plastic 60mm Viking figures' shields. I play fantasy, and these 60mm Vikings will be painted up as Frost Giants, for use with 25mm Human figures. Simple, and effective. Cheers!
