In my continuing search for a SF game for a 16YO protege, I like the look of the WarMchine rules. But the minis are a tad pricey for what may be a passing fancy. So who makes cheap PAINTED alternatives that we could press in to service? I'm thinking clickies, collectable stuff, even old out of print off Ebay…. |

You can often pick up copies of Grind cheap. Comes with some warjacks you just need to make some weapon arms appropriate to the jacks you want. Not painted though. |

Warmachine/Hordes is actually a pretty good rules set. Some nice mechanisms, easy to pick up and flows sensibly. |

Yeah, 16YO does not paint, would need a lot of supplies etc. so ready to play is a must… |

Sometimes eBay has painted forces you can get a good price on. The two player starter set is a fantastic deal for two players to split. Two $20 USD paint sets and a can of primer will do. You can play a lot of games with that two player set. Also they might enjoy painting. Also you can download the app. The app is fantastic. |
