I know this has probably been covered before, but what the heck, I will bring this up. I am looking at my Viking force I originally collected and painted for games of Warhammer Ancients. I still like the game and occasionally get to play it.However, perhaps before I knew better I based all the models (All Wargames Foundry) on GW 20 mm slotta bases with metal squares superglued to the bottom both for weight and to use on magnetic movement trays. Since that time I have come to really like mounting my 28 mm infantry figures onto 7/8 inch fender washers. I think it is more ascetically pleasing and makes it easier to rank the models up or use them in skirmish games, plus you don't have all your figures towering an extra couple of mili-meters over your opponent's who did base theirs on washers or flatter basing. But do I really want to attempt to re-base around a 150+ figures? Plus how to get the models safely off the old GW bases? Thoughts? Don't do it?

Hi
Try using single bases (square or round) and Sabot bases to give flexibility for style and system. Warbase in uk has them. It like the old Lord of the ring bases from GWS.

IF the square bases are about the same size as the washers, but magnetic tape on the washers and move them that way…

I don't see why you couldn't rebase the figures on the squares to washers and still use the sabot stands. All depends on the sizes of all those things. I am assuming 28mm figures.

This is the first time I've heard of anyone wanting to rebase single figures to another single figure scheme.

The simplest way to pop figures off any basing scheme is to put the figures in the freezer and then immediately put them into extremely hot water from the tap.
You have essentially three different substrates, base, adhesive and figure.
Each has a different coefficient of thermal expansion.
This procedure will shock the bonds, and often the figure just pops off.
Rinse and repeat.
It has the advantage of being relatively harmless to the paint job too.
