Is there a brush on dull coat clear sealer anyone uses? Could use it for touchups but not sure where, what kind or if available. |

I use Testers Dullcoat. They make both a spray and a brush on and both are fantastic. |

Don't spray Dull Coat when it's humid! It will certainly "frost." I've switched to the brush on type. Humid or not it gives a perfect finish. Half the price of the spray and lasts 10 times longer. link |

Liquitex acrylic matte varnish mixed well before applying, but stirred, not shaken (bubbles). Heard good things about Windsor & Newton brush on as well. |

I brush or airbrush on a mix of W&N Galeria Matt varnish and Tamiya flat base on command or rpg figures. If the weather is cooperating I use Testers Dullcout on my rank and file. |

I want to protect some newly painted figs with dullcoat but then many are also wearing armor – helmets, breastplates, etc plus swords, pike points, etc. Wondering if dullcoat will make the armor look less like armor? |

I recently started using Vallejo brush on matte varnish and find it works pretty well. It doesn't completely flatten out a gloss, but I think it creates a better surface to paint on than the spray-on dull coat, so I use it after an ink wash. |

Keep forgetting to buy a bottle of Dullcote brush on. Thanks for the reminder. Ordered through Amazon Prime. |

mghFond – that is a no unless you like your armor shiny obviously. |

I have used spray dull coat for years, have a few units that look like they rode out of a dust storm. |

So, for figures with armour you can just brush on the Testors' Dullcote over the areas that should not be shiny after you have dipped (Varathaned) your figures. That will give far more control than just a spray matte. |

@ jhancock, Liquitex acrylic matte varnish will turn some green paints yellow when dry. |
jhancock | 16 Oct 2018 7:01 p.m. PST |
Thanks for the warning, Cyrus! Hasn't happened to me yet, probably because I put the matte over a dried gloss varnish? Testers spray dullcote hasn't been the same to me for years. More matte than flat. |

Next question is where it get it. Don't get much on line, have all the craft stores to choose from |

US or UK? In the US, I use the 40% off one item coupons at the Michael's and Hobby Lobby to buy Liquitex acrylic varnishes, mediums, and gesso, as they are expensive (but of good quality). You might also find some Testor paints at those same locations. my last bottle of Testors Dullcote spray came from WalMart of all places! |

I use the acrylic matte varnish from Golden, watered down a bit to thin it, both as brush on and through the airbrush. A very light airbrush coat is enough to matte out the gloss of Klear. |
