One TMPer recently asked me why I corresponded with another TMPer, even though we hardly ever agreed on anything and we constantly pick on each other.

Well, in my reply I wanted to include a quote … but I've forgotten where it's from exactly.

Anyway, I think it's from a movie, and I believe that an older man is saying this to a younger person (male or female). It goes something like this:

- I can't love people in pieces. I take the good along with the bad -

Any ideas, please?

Thanks

Dan

I've never met a perfect person including myself. So, if I accept myself with all my faults, it becomes easier for me to accept others. There is always a good side in a person you can find and learn to laugh with them over their faults as well as them laughing at you with your faults. Hummmm, but some people you just have to look harder for their good side, but it is always there. But there are a few people that just never open up to let you see what they are really like inside. in those cases, you just love them anyway and move on.

Sounds familiar, but I can't name the film. Personally one of my favorite quotes that I've used over the years is William Barrett Travis in the John Wayne Alamo, "I am better than that rabble out there."

My favorite quote is from General George Washington, very apropos for todays world:
"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence--it is a force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action."

Another great one from Machiavelli:
"Among other evils which being unarmed brings you, it causes you to be despised."

To add to the second from Niccolo, a second unsourced quote:
"45ACP, because shooting twice is just silly."

Machiavelli was being sarcastic when he said that.

The first one.

I'm pretty sure he meant the second one.
