I met him once. Interesting man. Best wishes to his family and loved ones. Many years ago, when I was a young gamer, I wrote for the game magazines. Chaosium had a magazine at the time, but the editor there (not Greg) wasn't encouraging, so I went in a different direction. It makes me wonder how my professional life might have been quite different, if I had developed within the Chaosium orbit rather than where I ended up. |

I got to know Greg fairly well when I was President of GAMA. I remember him being very outgoing and opinionated. I also remember our late night discussions over adult beverages at Origins and Gencon. The discussions ranging from the state of the industry, politics, and culture were, how shall I say this, animated. But we valued and respected each others views. RIP Greg. Sorry to hear the news. I first met him at a San Francisco show, Pacifico's several decades ago. He was very kind to my wife who was under going chemo at the time. |

I've been a player and fan of his stuff for decades – Chaosium had a far greater influence on my gaming than TSR – Runequest, Cthulhu, Pendragon, all fantastic. So looking forward to the new Runequest, Greg may have passed on but his legacy will live on for a long time to come. |

I talked with Greg quite a bit on his Pendragon forum, sometimes several times a day. I'm absolutely devastated by this beyond words. He was a remarkable man, and, more than most I will miss him dearly. He was a great and kind man. He created things none other could. I am crushed beyond words. |

I have fond memories of Greg Stafford's early work. Earlier this summer, I dug out my dog-eared copy of White Bear and Red Moon (the boardgame that started Runequest) and in August played a few games with an old friend. There is even a Vassal mod for WB&RM, under its later incarnation as Dragon Pass. |
