I need some 28mm 88mm flak. I have seen models on the web from:
Perry
Warlord
Empress
Italeri
Tamiya

I would be grateful for your recommendations. Thanks!

One of each? You know you want to.

Tamiya's and Italeri's are one and the same in 1/48 plastic. I have Warlord's (presumably 1/56) metal 88 and it is very nice.

Fanatik has it right. I have a Warlord version and I *think* I have some of the Perry crew somewhere, but decided against another gun from them.

Thanks for your comments!
Seems Warlord is the way to go. They have two different 88mm kits. Do you know which is the metal one?

Both perry and Empress miniatures 88s are made by Blitzkrieg miniatures , which I think are the best . If you want a crew to go with the gun then I would go with Empress miniatures, some of the best ww2 figures on the market .

Bandai did one in 1/48th as well

And Black Tree Design in 1/48th.

I have the 1:48 Italeri one and built it in tow; which works well with my 1:48 vehicles. I also have one from Warlord, build for field placement…smaller footprint.

Depends on the scale of your other vehicles. Don't mix 1:48 kits with those from Warlord or Blitzkrieg, they look ridiculous. I've the resin Blitzkrieg version hand the Perry crew to go with it. Just need a large enough table to use it on!

Travellera13 Oct 2018 9:38 a.m. PST

Hmm…..I mostly use Solido and Corgi 1/50 tanks so maybe 1/48 is the way to go…

Probably is. The Tamiya is a proper modellers kit so be prepared to spend a little time putting it together. And don't buy any guns from Black Tree they are very poor. The infantry is ok, particularly the early ranges, principly Germans and Russians, which were from Harlequin, but the new sculptor is not a patch on the one Harlequin had.

Rubicon has a plastic 1/56 one in the pipeline due for imminent release; I've been waiting for that model rather than buying one of the others.

I agree with MiniMo, the Rubicon one looks good so I'm holding it off until I see it before I decide on an 88.
