Gilder's approach being emulated here both in terms of scale and the rules used, got me going on my own Sudan collection many many years ago. With his hand-written rules guiding the way and War-games World articles providing further inspiration my collection is quite large, but still some distance away from this wonderful display. I noted in the "One Man and His Brushes" blog that he will be injecting more player involvement for the Dervishes/Ansar. That was exactly what inspired me to develop my own rules for the period. I will be interested to see what he comes up with.

I popped along to have a look at the game, and it was terrific. Not only did it look fabulous but the players were all having a great time playing it.
Dave has been putting this together now for few years and his hard work and attention to detail has really paid off, everything was absolutely top notch.
[glad the river board I made looked alright too!]
