Hi all,
Finally managed to finish my "A star or a coffin" vignette, using Oniria Miniatures' five sets depicting Custer's last stand.
I hope you like how it turned out.

Quite EXCELLENT!
Is that 28mm?
Did you make those arrows yourself?

ONIRIAMINIATURES08 Oct 2018 5:45 a.m. PST

Cheers guys.
Thanks for comments.
Figures are a bit taller than the average 28mm wargaming figure, but they aren't "bigger"(Legs and torso are in proportion with the head)
Yes I made the arrows. Electric guitar E 09 string for the "stick" and Yamiya yellow tape for the feathers.

Absolutely beautiful!

I have read that George A. Custer was among the first killed, very early in the battle.

Great diorama. As Rallynow said there are some questions as to whether Custer was alive at the last stand. Several native americans said he was killed in the valley during his initial assault on the indian villages.

Where was his body found?
Mark

Stephen Miller09 Oct 2018 8:07 a.m. PST

His body was found just below the crest of "Last Stand Hill"; the question is, "Is that where he was hit by two bullets, or was he first hit (and either killer or badly wounded near the river) and somehow transported to Calhoun Hill and thence along Battle Ridge to Last Stand Hill. There are two Indian accounts about a buckskin-clad officer (not necessarily Custer-perhaps Lt Sturgis) being hit as he entered the LBH who was put back on his horse which was then led away from the river. Most historians believe that if Custer had been hit badly at the river, Capt Keogh, the senior officer present under Custer would have retreated south back the way they had come, toward the Reno-Benteen battalions (and the regiment's pack train) instead of continuing on towards the north.

Cheers guys. Thanks for watching and comments. I'm really glad you like how it turned out.
Considering the inevitable commercial restictions of the figures, I think we have succeeded in portraying an acceptable look of the battle.

Any plans for indians to be added to the dio?
Mark

Cheers guys. Thanks for the comments.
marco56@ By early 2019 I hope we can release some Lakotas on horseback. These are not specifically designed to go with these figure sets, but you will be able to add them if you want. Before these, we will release a Lakota vignette, but this one cannot be mixed with the Custer figures. It will just be a vignette by it self.

I'm impressed. I don't believe the theory that Custer was hit prior to The Last Stand is correct. Your work looks spot on the me.

Very nicely done even down to the grass stains on the pants! Superb! A+
