"The signs are ominous—especially in Israel and its neighbours, Syria, Lebanon and Gaza. Violence, both actual and rhetorical, has been escalating on all three fronts. Gaza could become the immediate flash point as the Palestinians' ‘March of Return', which began on 30 March, intensifies and Israeli retaliation becomes increasingly lethal. Since for the last several years there has been a number of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, most of the general public in most countries around the world wouldn't notice another conflict developing -- people would just assume that it was a continuation of some current conflict. About the only exceptions to this would be if someone used nukes or shut down the Persian Gulf, or shut down the Suez Canal or took some other similar action that impacted people's pension funds around the world. |
