What do you hope for, or what would you most like to see?
One of the most annoying things for me in fantasy (and some "science" fiction) is prophecy.
Emperor Palpitine says "I have forseen" blah blah blah. So, yeah. I include science fiction.
You can't swing a dead cat by the tail in GoT without hitting someone uttering a Prophecy.
Mirri Maz Duur tells Dany that she will never have children. Thank the Seven for Jon who comments that perhaps she was not the most impartial.
Then some crank predicts that "the dragon has three heads". So now we go looking for more Targaryens. Is the Night King a Targ? Do we have to make Tyrion a Targ if the Night King doesn't count? I'm assuming Jon gets to ride one.
Maggy the Frog spins prophecies about Cresei's 3 and only 3 children. Yet she has had 4. Remember the dark haired baby who died? It's in the second episode. Cersei tells Catelyn about him.
Melisandre has been 0 for Everything in her interpretations.
Does the prophecy of Azor Ahai mean Jon has to plunge a sword into the breast of Danaerys to forge Lightbringer?
I hope that's BS, just like the above.
In short, I'm hoping prophecies are meaningless in the final resolution of Game of Thrones.
The following are "it would be nice if…"
Who sits the Iron Throne? I have no hopes or expectations. Betting on how Martin finishes the story is as pointless as betting on Wrestlemania, for much the same reason.
How about Gendry? Jon legitimizes him so he's no longer just plain Gendry (Waters?) but Gendry Baratheon. (Or, he's Cersei's little black haired baby boy by Robert, so doesn't need to be legitimized!) shoot. Let him marry Arya too.
The Night King? Meh. There's a few Valyrian steel weapons hanging about.
So Brienne, Jaime, Jon, Arya or Sam can kill him. I don't expect any from the books to suddenly appear. Sorry, Lady Forlorn.
Or maybe Gilly with a dragonglass dagger, and Sam takes all the credit.
Maybe he will take Sansa as his bride. Or maybe he's a Stark. Whatever. I'll be happy with whatever Martin or the show runners decide.
Or maybe Lyanna Mormont. Queen in the North!
I want Ghost and Nymeria to join up and kick ass. Or bite ass.
I want Hot Pie to open a really nice Bed and Breakfast.
Tormund Giantsbane is already backup quarterback for Tampa Bay. Maybe he died with the fall of the Wall and went on to the NFL. That's too bad. He and Brienne made a cute couple.
