…. To Change The Course Of The Afghan War. "The former founder and CEO of Blackwater says he needs just six months and roughly 3,600 men to make the Afghan War look far different from the shitshow it is now. In an interview with Afghanistan's TOLO News, Erik Prince once again pitched his idea to privatize the nearly-17-year-old conflict, offering up a force of "contracted veteran mentors" from the United States and NATO countries to serve alongside Afghan security forces.
"Well, I would say six months after the program is fully ramped up, you have a very different situation on the ground, I will commit to that," Prince said, outlining a plan to provide 36 contractors for each unit of Afghan security forces, who would serve for two to four years at a time…." Should give him a chance, since the current strategy isn't working, nor ALL the other ones. |

He would also need a total news blackout and Ghengis Khan's RoE. |

Carte Blanche would be the unwritten terms of the contract……made with the Kabul regime so the US and partners have distance…… The remark on 2-4 contract years possibly highlights the problems with the 6 month mentoring schemes running at the moment, by the time the trust and effective liaison skills are in place, they rotate back with ' job done' leaving the ANA to start all over again with new advisors and possibly different approaches……it also reinforces the ' no end in right's for the local forces whilst the Westerners get to go home……. |

We need to get out. The Iranians and Russians are never going to allow us success even if it means chaos on their borders. After years of little progress I can only imagine they have covert ops like we ran during the soviet occupation. |

What a sales pitch! Aka "far different look" = more atrocities. That'll help the US brand. |

Yeah, let's put the war in the hands of Mercenaries*, who have even less incentive to finish it. "Far different" may mean a whole lot of things, not necessarily "better" or "over". *If you don't like the term "Mercenary", feel free to insert "Freelance Security Forces".

The locals will at least understand Genghis Kahn's RoEs… |

I suspect the enemy might also fear it. |

So would this plan qualify as a "rage quit"? |

Note that he said he could "turn the war around." He didn't promise that it would be won. The current situation resulted from the withdrawal of American forces in Afghanistan, which left the inadequate ANA to fend for themselves. If we send Blackwater mercs they will be fighting not to lose, which is no different than previous troop surges that could only achieve temporary success and eventual stalemate. In that light Prince is only proposing more of the same. In six months the situation may look different, but his contractors will be stuck in a quagmire much longer than four years. |

Sending a religious fanatic to kill other religious fanatics always works out great. |
