I have the impression that piebald horses are more common in the Americas than Eurasia. Is this accurate? How common are piebald horses? Does it vary by breed? |

Haven't researched it, but one of the Chinese military art fan sites had some illustrations of Han era cavalry which included piebald horses. Actually grabbed one for wallpaper on my laptop. Missed getting a bookmark, unfortunately. |

while there are certain types where you see pinto coloring fairly common in the western US, i dont know how prevelant is is in other countries. |

Other than for kettle drummers, I have never seen any paintings by the masters of European military art that showed piebalds or skewbalds. Not saying there aren't some, I have just never seen them. Asia I know nothing about. The American West is where you see them. Plains Indians seemed to really like them. Tom |

I'd have to break out my copy of Duncan Head's Punic and Macedonian Wars but I think he mentions them for Indian armies of the time… |
