On a scale from 0 (no problem) to 10 (crisis), how much of a problem do you have with games being scheduled and players not showing up? |

2 – maybe not as many as you would like, but someone always shows up |

0 All our GMs come prepared to run 4-8 players. So, no problem. |

10 – I usually play 1 vs 1 or 1 vs 1 vs 1, so someone not showing up is pretty much the end of the game. |

4. It happens and it can be a serious problem one on some days. Generally enough people show up to play. |

Always get enough to play the game but last second no shows happen occasionally. So maybe a 3? |

2 – If they don't show up. 5 – If they show up two or three turns after we have configured and started the game and started without them. Similar to Winston Smith, I am usually ready start with up to two last minute cancels and one extra player showing up (Baseline -2 or +1). |

8. I tend to play one player versus one player. Thus the game is off, if the opponent does not turn up. If I have warning the it is no problem. I can get on with other stuff. In the UK, the majority (proportion of games played) of gaming is 1 v1 from what i have seen at clubs etc. What is the proportion in US? |

5, though it depends if they have a good reason or not. |

0 Winston summarized it nicely; it isn't an issue. |

Generally what W Smith said. As a GM I plan for the no show and design scenarios with some flexible player slotting. If the scenario is known to need a minimum # of players, I advise the group of the requirement. SO I rate 1 (or 2 at worst). Most games have 3-6 players. Rare for the one on one match up as the time to set up and take down historical themed scenarios sort of prevents the going to one on one game unless a generic pick up variety. |

Maybe a 3. Had games filled to bursting. Had games with no takers. But I won't go to a convention solely to put on a game any more. The 500 mile drive home when the game doesn't go off is a tad long. |

Are we talking at conventions, at the club/home or both? Our club uses "Slack" to discuss and schedule games. It allows you to create a "poll" so people can sign up for slots. But they can also change their answer to opt in/out of their plans change. So GMs know to check the app a few hours before the game. Works great and has really improved that aspect of the club. |

One plus for solo gaming. Every player always shows up. |

7 – Assuming we are talking about local gaming and not conventions. Other issues. What I am tired of is begging people to attend. Posting on our group website. Phone to remind. It gets old. Players leaving early. There is almost nothing worst than people starting to bail after turn five of a 21 game scenario. I put a lot of work into my games and I hate seeing it go to waste. So I started finishing the games myself. Solo gaming. No arguments, no rules lawyers, play as long as I want. |
