…Zone Reboot

"Jordan Peele is reviving Rod Serling's iconic series The Twilight Zone, in more ways than one.

We already knew Peele was the creative force behind the scenes, bringing this sci-fi saga to life, but the first peek at CBS All Access' Twilight Zone revival reveals he's also stepping into Serling's shoes as the show's host and narrator.

"Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time, but prophesied issues of ours," Peele said in a statement, according to TV Line. "I'm honored to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of The Twilight Zone."…"

I would like to thank everyone connected with that announcement. No one said the new program would be "relevant" "diverse" or would "stretch the envelope." This is unprecedented in recent Hollywood history. If I had a TV, I'd watch an episode just for that.

Peele is weird, funny, and creative. Will give it a chance.

Now if someone would do the same for the Outer Limits. The Sandkings must ride again!

No one said the new program would be "relevant" "diverse" or would "stretch the envelope."

No one said it wouldn't either. Peele's only non-comedy was the brilliant and critically acclaimed horror flick 'Get Out,' which provides racial/political/social commentary in these troubled times.

TZ and TOL have both been rebooted before at least once. I'd be more interested in an update of The Night Gallery, which had not.

Missing the point, Fanatik. None of those things are inherently bad. But the shows which think they're more important than, say, plot, character and dialogue are not for me. Remember someone was pushing a new BTVS not long back, and the big thing was that it was going to have a black Slayer? (As though there wasn't one in the original series.) They didn't know the tone of the show, they didn't want to talk about a new plot direction, and they certainly couldn't talk about their actress because they didn't have one yet. They only knew that if they ever did have one, she'd be black.

Pardon me if I don't buy a television to watch the result. Star Trek--the REAL Star Trek--was all those things, and thus never had to say so.
