Hi all, I have been reading online particularly how the model railroaders achieve a chipped/peeling paint appearance on their buildings. Any suggestion how gamers best achieve this with buildings? In particular I am hoping to make some old west buildings. Thanks for you time. Tony |

I would assume it's the same. It would depend on the material it was made from. Are you using something different than they do? |

I saw a chipped paint appearance on a building through a photo on what I believe was MDF by a gamer. It was somewhat different than what I have seen from the RR modelers. I have seen a number of posts by model RR people weathering styrene or basswood. |

Where out west??? In my experience, ie my house and out buildings, chipped and peeling paint is caused by weather. Rain, high humidity, freeze/thaw and hail. So if you're modeling Montana probably but Arizona not as much. Just my opinion. |
