"Where continents have collided, new mountain ranges have arisen. The world's new high point is no longer located in the Himalayas, but in the as yet unnamed range that has sprung up where Florida and Georgia have slammed into South Africa and Namibia.

It's unlikely that there will be any humans around to witness the reunification of the world's land masses – we'll be lucky to survive the next century, let alone the current millennium – but the map includes some present-day cities nevertheless, for your orientation…."

So what drives the Atlantic Divergent zone into a Convergent zone?

The color maps make no sense and ignore current divergent/convergent plate boundaries.

Hmm. I wonder how many Ice Ages the Earth will have experienced by that time, either natural or "man*-made".

I understand that there is a subduction zone opening in the Atlantic and they tend to pull everything including induction zones so at some point it will "win" the contest.

Map shows poor New Zealand will still be stuck out on the ass-end of the world as it is now.

In an ocean that large and without obstacles, I suspect that the waves will be absolutely massive.

But absolutely great for surfing! ;-)

And what those Morlocks need are some Motley Crue and Metallica t-shirts… ;-)

Pangea 2.0 will not be a fun place. Big, roughly equally distributed continents like Australia tend to have a fairly decent livable area on the coastal areas and further inland where prevailing winds push clouds and therefore rain, but the central areas will be mostly arid deserts with temperatures that make our deserts look like playgrounds.

And as Dan pointed out, big oceans cause big weather resulting in massive storms and waves on the coastal areas.

So think of a more extreme version of Australia with extreme temperatures and extreme storms being the normal average.

One day we will all be blamed for continental shifts too. :)

Dan
