On the occasion of the publishing of the supplement about the Eastern Front, Battlefront offers several emblematic sets for the German forces of the middle of the war in 15mm.
These sets are on pre-order.

The BF plastics are really nice . The only downside of things is that they are not stating, what mark of Panzer3 or 4 is supplied. This seems to be their new policy throughout all their ranges.

Not a big issue really. Looking at the images I would say that the Pz IVs are F and F2 variants. The Pz IIIs seem to be Ausf.J, L & N.

I understand you view Deephorse its just seems a backward step to me having a model that covers all, when at one time they were very committed in producing all marks of Panzer 3s and 4s as evidenced with their back catalogue.

On a similar issue I have just had an disagreement on the Fate Of the Nation site with one of their top guys over the choice of T62 . The model featured on the box for the Egyptian T62 Battalion set is a 1967 model T62. No problem here as that was what I thought I was buying . After being on back order the models supplied within the box were actually the 1972 model of which the Egyptians never used during the Yom Kippur War. Yes the Syrians used it and can be used but not the Egyptians as stated on the box.

Whilst some people may accuse me of being a bit of a rivet counter of which I am not as I don't criticise other peoples efforts, I expect in this day and age the correct model or mark of tank to be supplied for the campaign I am doing. I like to think that we have moved on from when the old Airfix Panzer 4 used to represent anything from BlitzKrieg to the end of the Reich in 1945.

It sounds like I am being perhaps a bit harsh on BF which is far from the truth because the models themselves especially the plastic are very good/excellent. IMO they just need to look at the finer details a little more.

I guess it's just more economic to do it this way. Basic hull & turret with optional parts to make specific types. Plastic Soldier Company do it this way too, though they do say on the box which variants can be made.

Exactly perhaps the "finer details" I was referring to .

"mysteron", if you look more closely at the links, you will see that it's not "a model that covers all", but instead a mix of models in the platoon. They apparently intend these platoons to represent a transitional period.

For example, from the link: "By 1942, Panzer IV medium companies were a mix of short and long barrelled tanks".

Thanks Hinds. There is no fault with the models as they are excellent, its probably the box art and the way they are marketed that gripes me a little. As in the T62 case I quoted. For me I would have liked to have seen something like "options to make the Panzer 4 F1 or the longer barrelled F2 " on the box. That way its teaching beginners or those new to the era about the different marks of German Tanks. Looking at the Panzer 4s they are probably the same models that have been available for the desert theatre for some time perhaps in a different coloured plastic :)
