In your pulp or horror scenarios do you use objects that are seemingly possessed?

Did for a D&D game this summer. It wound up slaughtering the party. But then, after they discovered it was possessed (and managed to foil it), one of them decided to pick it up again! Best quote: "Don't touch the evil necrostick!" But at that point, it was too late… |

Why yes i do and we always split up the party to cover more ground. I was throw out of a Call of Cthulhu tournament because I destroyed the cursed book right away. |

^^Yes, dice are the most likely objects to be possessed, as they are among the easiest things for demons to influence (and get the 'instant gratification' they crave from the results… ;-) |

Some of the people I've played have occasionally almost had me phoning for an exorcist. |

Yes. Possession is how I rationalise much of magic particularly magic items in any fantasy setting (I regard all games as fantasy). x42 |

I'm curious: Back in the seventies there was a TV movie, the name of which I've long forgotten, containing three supernatural/horror-themed stories, one of which involved a woman (played by Karen Black) who returned from a tropical holiday with a tiki doll that turned out to be 'alive'. Much domestic fun ensued as they tried to destroy each other. Are the middle three extracts above from a remake of that film? |

Henry, If you are asking about my GIFs, the first ones are all from the 1994 Alec Baldwin movie The Shadow: YouTube link Dan PS. Was the Karen Black film you're thinking of perhaps this one, Trilogy of Terror (1975)? YouTube link |

Yes, that's it! I wouldn't be surprised though, if that possessed statuette in 'The Shadow' was an homage to 'Trilogy of Terror'. |

I have a scifi scenario where the robots go Haywire, so I guess that is kind of possessed. Other than that, they tend to be used for skirmish scenarios that are closer to RPG episodes and less like mass battles. Though, one time I did have Meji era city guard fighting against an army of tsukumogami – basically every piece of loose terrain I had for the city. Also, since the "person" isn't in the body any more, a zombie or skeleton could be a possessed corpse. |
