Here is my latest sculp and paint from the 3D printer. It took me about 30 hrs as I am still a learner. Constructive critism on the sculp are welcome. Comments about 3D print quality are pointless. Has anybody got a good photo of the top as I was struggeling for a really good shot of the top of the real thing. Note the biggest panel on the top was my best attempt at a panel line at this scale, what do you think? link link link A feature not shown is that the turret is keway locked. The turret turns but will only come off at one angle. This is a feature only possible practicaly on 3D prints and is a major advantage ofver cast versions. Ihave checked for reliability and all 6 hulls and turrets are interchangable so its a robust design. It will feature on all my new vehicles. |

Quite nice. Are you going to make your 1:144 sculpts available? |

Looking good, I say. I have always had a soft spot for eight-wheeled light armor. Rob |

surdo2005, Not thought about selling the STL file. One of the reasons is that from my own experience it would not be practical to print this vehicle unless you were a real expert on supports or had access to a programme as sophisticate as simplify 3D or SLS or similar printer. Thresher01, surprisingly other miniatures don't always get it right. The worst I have seen is the REVELL Fennek which is a mile out. As an example on your links for the LUCHS (thanks for them) it shows the problem. If you look at the big structure like a square cut off one corner, behind the turret, the different models show different details (ROCO vs BF) so the question is which one is right? |

Yes, very nice sculpt/print, by the way. I'll be wanting some, as funds permit. Best images I could find with a little searching. Can't help on which is right. Best bet is to find some reference photos in a good, Bundeswehr/NATO armor book, I suspect. Jane's might be worth a shot too. Could be both are right, and there are different variants, or slight changes, depending upon when they were produced. |

@Thresher01 In theory, UshCha's Luchs will be released in the next month or two under Aotrs Shipyards. I say "in theory," because with regard to Shapeway's pending price revisions, things might be up in the air (see latest Shipyards post). (Basically, as long as my stores prices remain at their current level, I'm continuing the release schedule, of which the Luchs is part.) I am, though, at the point whereby, if anyone wanted a decent-sized order of vehicles (like a company level or something, from any of the Shipyard's existant stuff), we are prepared to do it directly for you on the Replicator 2 – as UshCha's are here (though the same channels I take commissions). This would be on an ad-hoc basis (though it means it's cheaper for you, more pennies for us), at least in the short-mid term, until I can get something vaguely permenant sorted, as it's looking increasingly like that is what we might have to do. @surdo2005 I HAVE looked at how one would go about selling the .stls (before you go very far with that, you need to have some level of protection against some asshat, say, buying the file and then posting it up free on Thingverse or something). But thus far, the only place I knew that did it… Is REALLY not the marketplace for wargames models for home printing. (It expects for example, a level of presentation and texturing that I cannot even begin to know how to do, or even if our CAD pakcages would do it!) So, it's not really practical at the moment until I can find a suitable outlet. |
