Sometimes a game can make all of the difference.

It's done it for me because, after struggling to initially get enough on the table for a game (1st game above), I've got the project mojo back.

I've added a four new units over the last couple of weeks with more coming thick and fast.

It feels good to be making progress again.

I wish I could make half the progress you make James! Impressive as always!

Lovely work and Portuguese as well. Now, there is no need for a painting guide. Cheers,

Great. Funny how anticipation of a game or one just played spurs furious painting and modelling. I need limbers…

I have not opened a paint bottle since last Christmas because of problems in my work career, and will probably not complete my French vs Allied Peninsular War forces. But I really enjoy seeing such great figures, and great painting, up close! You are to be commended!

To the group, where does one find Humbrol paints in the US? I live near Valley Forge, PA, outside Philadelphia.

I intended to do the 4th Portuguese cacadores, at a strength of 30 – 5 companies of 6 figures, sometimes in two ranks. 1 company is "Atiradores" ("elites"), but not all with rifles. I use 9 riflemen for the whole battalion, scatter in 3 sets of 3. Victrix had them in metal, sold then to Brigade Games. I intended to mount 3 riflemen on one stand, and allow that stand to fire once per turn. A 30-figure line battalion could fire all 30 per turn. Again, 5 companies of six figures in 2 lines, 1 company is grenadier. (3 figures firing as 1 reflects the time it takes to reload a rifle at that time.)

My British battalions were all to be 40 figures, and my French 36.

Great link, Joes Shop! I never saw "matte aurora pink" in the old line. Would be great for those who do French Guard Cavalry, especially chasseurs a cheval and the Empress Dragoons!

Great painting and basing. The flags really pop.

Aurore used to be "Facings Orange" I think in the old Authenticolours range….many years ago.

It is hard to capture, especially as any museum pieces must have faded, but it is a pinkish orange, the colour of the dawn sky, was the idea.

Don't forget Grenadiers a Cheval too. Shoulder stripes on most Guard Infantry whether long service or rank.

Great brush work. What rules are you using?
