"US Helicopter Pilot Reservesists Activated????" Topic

Semi-confirmed rumor: I just got word that US helicopter pilots (especially Apache's) are being reactivated, including ones that have been retired for 10+ years.

My source (former military in Florida) is a friend that was told by a retired Apache pilot that is being activated and going to Fort Rucker and will also take Spanish lessons. The word is it's Venezuela.

Does anyone have additional information or confirmation? I could not find anything.

News of this being under consideration was in the news a week or two ago, so it is no secret.

I suspect perhaps they don't want it to be, in order to give Maduro a strong hint.

If so, than the US military is not as in a good a shape as I thought ?

But I very highly doubt the US will take an overt or possibly any covert actions in Venezuela. And in fact if there are any really covert ops going on there or in the region … we or most everybody else won't know about it anytime soon, I'd think …

Yes, and if it was meant to be classified you can depend on the media to ignore or not understand OPSEC. As 99% of them have no one in the military that could go or be in harms way.

I'm familiar with OpSec, I worked at one of those three letter agencies with the appropriate clearance but thanks for your concern.

Before posting I checked with a good friend of mine, a retired SEAL Commander, that currently works with Southern Command (Venezuela AO). He said it's probably something to do with FMS of Apaches to S. America but I could not find any info on it.

I grew up in S. Florida and "Little Venezuela" (Doral) is near my house. I met many Venezuelans that hated Chavez and wanted him dead. The same thing happened with Cuba, everyone with money left.

I found it interesting as Maduro was in China for meetings with them, most likely a bailout. I doubt if the US wants China to get a foothold using their "Debt Diplomacy" tactic as they've done with other countries.

The attempt on Maduro's life was with a helicopter by a former Venezuela FBI agent (trained at Quantico?).

Anyhow, I find these things interesting as from 1975 to 1992 I was involved in staffing international projects for defense support and training contracts. You can be sure the CIA and US military have already gamed a number of scenarios to make an intervention.

Totally agree ! As I said, there are covert ops going on in many, many, many, locations worldwide by the US. And many others of course too !
