After the conclusion of the series Dark Age scenarios this generated a lot of interest to do something similar in the Napoleonic era. I have a large collection of French that have not been used, but these lacked an opponent.

Looking at various options and time constraints I selected the Portugal and the early campaigns for the next project. The decision was based on a number of reasons, the campaigns set in Portugal did not attract much popularity and more importantly the investment of time and money was small by comparison to other theatres.

The following two links will bring you to the announcement of the project and the table of organization used to model the collection.

Looks to be a good Army/period to build.
I have many of those units already with a build to the 1810 Bussaco OOB IIRC, which is 75% complete at 1:20 and in 15mm OG, some AB & BH with BM guns/cassions/limbers.

Enjoy the project!

MG,

Thank you for the kind word.

If space were not a problem and time constraints were not an issue, I too would do this project on a 1:20 scale. Unfortunately, that is not the case by you highlight a ‘key' point' – to have fun.

Aside from painting the figures, part of that fun will be the design and writing a few historical scenarios. The historical battles spark more interest for our club members than the even match ups.

Cheers,

I see a point missed/needs expansion on now, from your reply.
I too started with a project and at 1:40 scale, in order to rapidly have the units for the specific action/scenario.
Since that time has passed, I have now moved to EXPANSION of the collection, which has become 1:20 for the unit size.
Of which 75% of the units with the 1:40 cadre have been expanded to 1:20.
So in do time, you will too be able to take that path , if that is an ultimate goal for your collection and play.
Enjoy the process
MG
