All,
I'm slowly building up a decent collection of "40mm" Elastolins for Dark Ages skirmish. They are beautiful figures, but I am trying to replace the bendy weapons with stiffer plastic or metal ones. I need long spears, (50 – 60mm long), axes and swords. Can anyone suggest a source? Even better, maybe someone has a bunch sitting in their spares box they could part with.

Nick,

Try here for your long spears: link

Thanks Jim, but I'd rather have actual cast metal or plastic.

North Star has spears

If you know anyone with one of the Gripping Beast plastic Saxons or Vikings boxes, or one of the Warlord (ex Wargames Factory) equivalents, they may have extra plastic weapons as well.

Gripping Beast makes some nice ones. I like em!

skipper, any idea how long they are?

I just happen to have some right here… 2 and 1/16 inches long. 5.2 centimeters when I flip the ruler.

Thanks, that sounds perfect.

Lead spears are bendy. Very bendy and soft. Foundry ones are nice and big in diameter so they will work well with the Elastolin.

Did I say the lead ones are very bendy?

Yes, very!

So bendy that I replace them all with the Warlord and Northstar wire ones.

I second the link to the Northstar 100mm wire PIKES. They are thicker in diameter than the spears and would be far better for scale with Elastolin.

The wire spears look minuscule in thickness in comparison to the regular lead and plastic ones included for metal and plastic 28mm figures, respectively.

Again, I recommend the Northstar Pikes – just cut them down to length.

Also, if you feel that the 100mm Northstar pikes are too long, they also have 50mm spears:
