as the title says.

What are your favorite rules to play the entire battle? Not just a part of it (I think I'm going to stick with LaSalle for player-as-Divisional-Commander), but rules for playing the entire battle.

If these rules work for teams of players, that would be even better!

Thanks,
Lion

Et sans resultat (ESR) are what we use for large napoleonic battles.

We developed "Bloody Big BATTLES!" (BBB) for exactly that purpose.

Grande Armee. Properly puts you in the role of deciding when and where to commit various forces, and not worrying about formations and the like. That's what you pay your officers for!

Volley & Bayonet or Grande Armee. Both give excellent games at army level.
Slight differences in approach give each a different flavour.

I have use the column line and Square for many battles.

Whilst I like ESR's colour coded sections, and spiral bound book, the rules in my view are still not a patch on the only one true rules.

Nap's battles !st edition. I love the concepts in ESR but would not want to use it for a Borodino or Wagram.

I love the concepts in ESR but would not want to use it for a Borodino or Wagram.

Would you mind explaining why?

Remember, newcomer to Napoleonic games and battles here!

Borodino in four hours last night with BBB (OK, we only had three hours so we only played three quarters of it, but it was a first playtest of the scenario):
