Just finished putting together a small 3'x3' skirmish board for various urban/sci fi/ post apocalyptic games:

Looks great.

That looks brilliant!

Looks great, and you definitely should NEVER use GW paint for terrain. Go to a home improvement store and buy a quart or two of house paint! Will probably be a third to half the cost.

It looks great. Ok, I would have "Never" considered kitty litter, a terrain resource. That's a new one.
I wish I had your patience to do this sort of work *Skinflint.

Ive rarely built any terrain. Still, Im w/ *Lion, regarding GW paints.
A cpl yrs. ago another painter/gamer 'clued me in' that craft store paints can give really good results and you can get 3 (ea. containing 2-3x the amt. of paint) for the cost of one bottle of GW's.

I have to share this:
Reading a brief 'How to' painting guide yrs ago by GW. Their staff painter was doing a wonderful job on a set of figs. Naturally the article praised & promoted Citadel paints.
'However' in the photo, the painters shelf had row upon row of VALLEJO paints. Not a single bottle of Citadel.

Nice craftsmanship SFG!
Looking forward to seeing some pictures of it when you get the board in action.

"Go to a home improvement store and buy a quart or two of house paint!"

When working for GW retail, when we had big terrain board to paint, we would make sample chips with the GW paint colors we wanted, go to the hardware store, and have them match the shade and sell us a can of that paint.

This was also how I did it when working at a non-GW game store.

That is how I did it when I made boards at home.

I love the old skool gretchin/ grots in one of the pictures. I regret having sold mine :( so can these bad boyz be used in Kill team? If so I might have to investigate the game about which I've heard lots of good things.

Thanks guys, glad you like it! Built a Deadzone board using similar techniques, will be showing that soon.

@Lion, @joedog – yep, house paint and cheap sprays are DEFINITELY the way to do this sort of stuff.

@blank frank – I hope so, that's on the to do list! Will also be using them as Shia Khan when I get my hands on a copy of Firefight, really looking forward to playing that game again :-)
