As the school holidays draw to a close here in Blighty, so I have been able to turn my attention back to my blog instead of entertaining the younglings.

First up, I've become more than a little evangelical about doing headswaps. Something I had been a little scared of doing, don't know why. Here's a 'how to' guide for the headswap virgins link

Next up my Covenantor force gets some frame guns, and pack horses. link

They join three regiments of foot link There's also a regiment of lancers on the painting table at the moment.

I've also reorganised my casualty markers so they are unit specific rather than just generic link

And finally, I've started planning some armoured siege engineers. A WIP link

All of which is just task avoidance from using fifty shade of brown painting up six regiments of horse.

Don't you recall the great Boer raid on Newcastle? Prince Rupert and his Mahdist irregulars held off reinforcements from Khartoum for several days before Cromwell's native regulars came up.

KYPD38, I'm just embarking on an ECW Royalist army as I begin finishing up my Covenanters. Your stuff is timely & inspiring.

I'm mostly using Tumbling Dice figures.

Great to see you cracking on with your ECW armies – looking good. Has the bug struck with Colonial troops?

Nice work!

Thanks for the kind comments. Alas I don't know of the Boer assault on Newcastle, is there an army list for it somewhere? ;-)

Hopefully I won't be catching any colonial bugs – I've got enough ECW and Napoleonics to paint.

Ochoin – hopefully some of my earlier posts (December/ January) will help point you in the right directions. Rather than plagiarise other people's work I've bookmarked links within posts. Good luck with your Royalist army. Hopefully death by brown paint won't be too taxing!

And the lancers have been painted! Just need to base them now

Started working on a 'test' armoured engineer. I've updated the siege engineer post ^ with some pics of my first attempt
