I have returned from my sojourn to Toronto! I am catching up on everything that was delayed during my absence. (I did some work while on vacation, but obviously not as much as usual!) I'm slowed down a bit because of an injury to my right wrist, I am having trouble mousing and typing. Ouch! |

Was your wrist injured when you were detained by custom agents at the border? Those Mounties are a tough bunch! Easy to spot though. |

The customs folks on both sides were superb (and quick!). |

Were you here for Fan Expo by any chance? |

No, just to visit sister-in-law and her family. Apparently I missed out on a War of 1912 reenactment. Bummer. Things I learned about Canada (or maybe just Toronto): * Canadians ignore speed limits * Canadians don't mow their lawns * Canadians have Dark Chocolate Milk! * Canadians buy milk in bags, not gallon jugs. * Toronto has highway congestion all day long and on weekends * the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is more fun, if you like carnivals and state fairs you'll like it * not a lot of corn, but an abundance of cucumbers in the supermarkets (no idea why) There's a Chinese restaurant called Congee Queen (I love that name!), didn't eat there because line was too long to get in. There's another Chinese restaurant called Wok of Fame (another great name!), extra-large buffet, fun place to go. Now I know what a Tim Horton's is. The Chills are good (smoothie with frozen yogurt). I thought we had a lot of 'diversity' in the Albany area, but Toronto has us beat. I didn't see a lot of integration, though – wait a few generations… |

Was that War of 1812 reenactment (I presume 1812)at Fort York? |

Aren't we at war with Canada? I heard recently that they burned down the White House. |

Actually, the US burnt down the public buildings in Fort York (very uncivilised behaviour) so the White House seemed a reasonable "back at you" target for the British Army. |

Sounds a lot like Britain. Except the milk in bags thing. That is just weird…. |

We don't have milk bags in British Columbia. Water restrictions allow our lawns to turn brown, no need to mow. Speed limits, no one ever follows that. Except tourists and new immigrants. Everyone does at least 10 Km over the speed limit. Toronto 401 congestion is legendary, same as LA. Niagara Falls is fun. Integration is interesting. We have areas of full of Chinese, others have East Indians. They tend to congregate together. Lots of craft brewery's as well. |

Didn't see any Moose Milk. And Tim Horton's seems to be a lot like Duncan Donuts in the USA. Wrist is slowly recovering, I have to take breaks away from the keyboard frequently. |
