I'm musing about a 4th of July parade ambushed by zombies. Being an AWI player, I naturally have reenactors for the parade. We have zombies, police, SWAT, Marines, etc. but we need to get the band back together, Elwood! I have Eureka's string quartet for the Ace Hardware delivery truck float, but I do need a high school marching band. Shako Preferred. Mariachi? Sure. Why not. And I have the Foundry Grenz band for the Shriners. You may well ask what is the genesis for this. It's the 1/56 Sarissa laser cut mdf "Chateau". I got it for Germantown Chew House, and it's progressing nicely. I just had a beer inspired thought about Old Man Gillespie's mansion and how he hated the noise of the parade. Well, he has been plotting for years….. Anyway, what parade (4th of July, Memorial Day, Kielbasa Festival) would be complete without a high school marching band? Who makes one in 28mm? Or a reasonably close Model Railroad one? Old fashioned is good. |

I ran across an HO band, but of course too small when everyone else is 28mm. |

You might have to go really old fashioned and use Napoleonic musicians. |

The greater problem is the cheerleaders/drum majorettes with their trade-mark skimpy skirts and batons. No high school worth it's name has a marching band and no cheerleaders! It just wouldn't look right.

All right then. I need 28mm strutting cheerleaders too! When I played Blood Bowl, I had a very cute human cheerleader, and some not so cute Orc and goblin ones. |

Hard to find any marching bands in 28mm. Other than individual drummers and buglers, the ones I am aware of are: Warlord Games French Imperial Guard: link link Empress/Tsuba Russian band
linkTradition of London: link None of them exactly match the High School Marching Band but with some creative headswapping, who knows? And good luck with the majorettes! |

I recently finished World War Z for the third time…..it is not at all my idea of literature, but was bought for me by my eldest of three sons. It is infinitely better than the Brad Pitt movie, but I cannot imagine a marching band somehow. It is as good as "We are Bob" and the two sequels (same source and not my choice at all either, until revealed) Zombies in 1812…OK ..I do recall my younger twin sons reading a couple of such texts…
But nothing that had a girl with thighs like the girls shown above. I will not comment that, with those, wrapped around your neck, you would die a happy man, because that would be non PC.

Dixon makes a nice range of ACW bandsmen. No pics but they are nice figures. With some head swaps you can make what you need. link You can see some conversions in front of this picture of Miners Brigade

Dixon is what I was going to suggest. I think kepi-to-shako would not be too bad a conversion. Those Empress figures are nice! |

Just a heads up, Victory Force Games has Zombified cheerleaders in a pyramid formation. Also, they have a bunch of different mascots post-bite. |

What a great idea! I have been working on a Comicon kind of thing in 15mm, working on getting some cosplay superheroes I have already done some Trekkies
Can you just imagine trying to survive the Zombie Apocalypse dressed in some Anime Cosplay Costume! |

Have a look online for 'O' scaled Model Railroad figures, brands like Noch, Adler and others have produced just about everything at some time. Walthers is a major supplier. Architectural figure suppliers are another possible source, 1/48 or 1/50 |
