I don't have the exact dimensions of the bottles in front of me at the moment, but I need to see what options there are for organizing my most common acrylic colors (mostly Delta Ceramcoat) and a couple of other bottles of the same size (2 oz) that contain blends and solutions. Perhaps something for my top 24 bottles. No bigger, if possible. Any suggestions? Thanks Dan PS. These are the type of flip top 2 oz bottles I mean. The seem to be about 4 inches tall, but I can't measure their width at the moment:

I use a version of this. link , but it holds 48 bottles. There is also this one from Amazon link |

I hope this is the right width, 1 3/8:

If you can find the right brand, but one of these:
Use two of the panels with a spacer and the bottles just go in the open spaces. Alternatively, I have a nice MDF box on clearance. Model Paint Storage for craft style paints such as Delta, Apple Barrel etc. in 2 oz squeeze type bottles. Case is 120mm deep, size 245mm x 183mm and holds 24 bottles and comes complete with insert. link |

Mark Thanks. That's more of a box* than a rack or stand though. And I pretty much already have the paints in a box right now, which I bring out of the closet when I need to. I would prefer to keep them out permanently and visible, on an upright or diagonal rack or stand on the desk. Dan * Unless it can be put up vertically without requiring any modifications. Would the paints stay put if the box is put up vertically? If the bottles will stay in their spaces, without tumbling, then I'll probably take it. :) |

I use the same one as Royal Air Force. It spins so there's easy access, holds a goodly number of bottles, not too expensive. I like it. |

I built some boxes out of scrap foamcore and Glue-All, hold about 12 bottles each (more and they get too heavy to pick up one-handed). Roughly one for 'reds', 'blues', 'greens', 'whites, yellows, 'flesh'', couple for 'browns', one for 'metallics'. Works fine for the way I paint. YMMV |

I use those paints and really rate them. I have written the colour on every top. This means i cam look down on the whole box (drawer) and see what colours are present. |

Anything with built-in spacers is a waste of space. Circular multi-tier spinners also have too large a footprint relative to accessible space. though the one linked above is ok: link |

I have spinner from Michael's as well but it holds 160 bottles. |

In that case get an expand-a-shelf:
BUT turn it 90 degrees so the wide shelves are upright and the narrow ones horizontal. I used to use these for all my paints. |

I paint the top of the bottles with the color then use a tool box on a stool next to me. I look down into the box and see the colors I want. Nice thing is that there is a removable tray that holds glue, brushes, etc. And the whole thing is mobile when I want to paint at work. |

Cheap and simple; I took a piece of 1 X 4 pine wood. Drilled 1 and 1/8th inch holes in it so the narrow top of the paint bottle would fit right in but the wider bottom (1 and 3/8ths) would not fall through. 10 minutes and 1.59 later. And…BAM! I've got the most perfect paint rack ever. This leaves them upside down for easy view of the paint color. And isn't it best for paint to be stored upside down anyway? |

I have the wire spinner, discussed above. My bottles are cap-in, with the labels invisible, and I look at their whitish plastic bottoms of the bottles, with the color of the paint barely showing through.
What I am switching to, is a clear, acrylic plastic fingernail polish stand. The bottles sit in it, upright, so I can see their labels. Works for me, better than other options. Cheers! |

I understand your desire for a craft paint stand. I own 4 of the 160 paint spinners. I wanted something that would not take up so much space. So, I built my own. 48 inches in length, 24 inches tall and 3.5 inches deep. I use a 1.5 inch lip and 2'x4' mdf for the back. I can fit 64 paints per row. They are 2 deep. Further racks will be 24"x 24". I went with 48" as the wood comes in 96" length. I originally was doing 36". Too much wood cutting for that to work well. I also ordered a clear acrylic nail polish rack for my vallejo and other paints. I just finished building mine 15 minutes ago. I forgot to add that three rows are for craft paint. Two others are for Armory and Howard Hues. I'll possibly get 70+ craft paints per row. Just have to see tomorrow. Thanks. John |

Here is the link. link I actually have over 320 craft paints in it. Plus some Howard Hues paints too. I have wood to make another one. I may just make 2 24"x24" ones instead. It cost me about $32.00 USD to make. I completed it in about 4 hours start to finish. Thanks. John |

I keep the bulk of my paints in plastic bins in two huge drawrers to the side of my desk. But, when I paint something, I go through my paints and pick out the ones I plan to use for it and put those on my desk. So the rack/stand/tray I'm looking for is for the dozen or so paints that I'm about to use … plus for my various ink washes, acrylic thinners, flow aids, etc, which I've transfered into bottles that I bought separately. And the empty bottles I bought for those solutions are the exact same type as those used to package the Delta Ceramcoat paints. So I could end up having as many as 20 of those 2oz bottles on top of my desk. The rack/stand/tray thing is for those. Perhaps with enough space for 24 or so, just to be in the safe side. Dan |

Gamecraft miniatures sells paint racks for all sizes of paint. I believe the one for Craft paints holds 35. He also makes a portable painting table that holds brushes and various sized paint bottles. These run 24.75 bucks or so for either. Made of Mdf and sturdy. I own one for my craft paints. 36mm sized paints. He just had a sale. link Thanks.

I second the fingernail polish rack. I have quite a collection of craft paints and this is what I use for them, as well as my Foundry paints. |

My wife says she ordered me this one: auction Says she was tired of seeing my paints all scattered and wanted to help get my desk a little sorted out. Oh well. Let's see what that looks like when it gets here, and if it works for my needs. Dan |
