Didn't click the link, but what was the base color you started with? Looks great!

jocknroll30 Aug 2018 6:23 a.m. PST

The mat was gold.

My colours were worked into that

Wow looks great! Lots of hard work paid off with a great looking and flexible mat.

It turned out beautifully. The blending of colors seem so natural. You have a remarkable talent. Can't wait to see more custom mats.

thanks for that kind comment!

It felt like muck and elbow grease at the time but it was actually fun to do and I think with the right prep and a bit of time, anybody could get this kind of result.

I watched a few YouTube vids where people used airbrushes but of course that really only hits the top surfaces and leaves the base showing through. You need to get dirty to do this job right!

Gorgeous! Love the use of cold coffee. The wasp inspired paint spill worked out beautifully.

Ivan DBA30 Aug 2018 8:00 a.m. PST

That is the best mat I have ever seen! Well done.

Super, might have a crack, when I get home and get me new figures painted up!!

Tally Ho!

Old Contemptibles30 Aug 2018 12:53 p.m. PST

That's what I am talking about. This is way better than any commercial mat I have ever seen. Bravo!

Thanks once more for the thumbs up. I suspect commercial mats could be done to this standard but at a price. I suppose what is available is reasonably priced? Its around 14 hours work + materials. Don't quite know how that might work out cost wise in the wargaming terrain world.
