A) Did you use this JTT fiber material here, or some other bought product? If so, how did it turn out? auction
B) Or did you scratchbuild the "red weed" stuff yourself somehow? If so, what did you use and how did it turn out? Thanks, Dan scifi.wikia.com/wiki/Red_Weed

You could use surgical gauze & dye it red. |

Here is an interesting take on Martian red weed. Each turn the weed grows by 1 hex. It's from a HOTT game.

Thanks for the link. For the above effect, I put various shades of red lichan into a food processor to get a flocking of sorts. A variety of sizes. Then glued it down to painted red hexes. If I use them again, I'll add some of Dan's red lace. Each turn the Martian player rolled a D6 and a new hex grew from the appropriate side of a previous hex that was on the table. it counted as Bad going for earth creatures, but good for the creatures from Mars. Here is a close-up.

Guys Wow, I like those hexes! What if … the hexes on the edges were done as transition pieces, using a clear plastic (like a glare-free sheet protector film), so that you could still see the green grass underneath? Also … these ribbons might be another option for the red mesh/gauze material. Perhaps if the fabric were covered with an extremely light coating of black gesso pre-mixed with a few drops of red or purple paint:

JTT also makes late fall (red) blended foam flock: auction
Just wondering … has anyone ever made red or purple-ish static grass? Dan |

"Just wondering … has anyone ever made red or purple-ish static grass?" Believe it not, my wife offered this as her answer: auction They do seem to make just about every color of the rainbow. Dan PS. I think she still has her hot glue gun somewhere. Or I can finally put to use my Crystal Clear Tacky Glue. Maybe it's time to make some blobs with red veins (and unlucky civilians) inside them … :) |
