Nothing like having a guy that hates SciFi run Star Trek.

Interesting video.

Gives a little more explanation for some of the creative decisions (especially in the JJ-Verse movies) rather than just JJ and his team wanted to be different.

I guess I don't fault a corporation for making decisions to improve their bottom line… but when you alter a product for your own profitability, the customers rebel, and then you blame those same customers as being close-minded… well, then you've lost any sympathy I might have had.

So, with Discovery there's "a rift between those who hate it and those who sorta like it"? Priceless.

And to the Studios those who hate Discovery must be "blah, blah, racist, blah, blah, alt-right, blah, blah and Trump supporters"? LOL, now that's what I call prejudging! Many of the people I know who have watched it and hated it call themselves liberal and take offense to those highly alienating generalizations.

Then again, – and here's my generalization – it's a perfect example of how Hollywood, its products and "values" are NOT a reflection of society. Instead they want to mold society in their own image and alienate anyone else who doesn't share its views, including its views of the past … a past they are working hard to rewrite, as if it never happened.

Patrick must be in a lot of debt to take part in this mess. He's going to regret doing this. The only thing he's got going is the respect of his fans, and he shouldn't risk losing that. So if he gets a chance to pull out of the contract he should take it now before it's too late.

That anti-SF Moonbat thing is hilarious. Even my 95-year old Dad knows the difference between Star Trek and Star Wars! :)

NOTE: For the record, I watched a couple of episodes of discovery (okay, one and a half) and didn't like it. It had nothing to do with feminist or racial issues. I didn't even know those were really an issue until I heard some crazies say it was part of their war against the patriarchy. I had no problem at all with the female roles or race of the characters for one simple reason … because they weren't altering or replacing any existing ST characters with people who were a different gender or otherwise drastically different.

I just simply could not recognize Discovery as Star Trek. The tardigrade thing is just plain stupid and goes against everything that we know of ST universe tech. The first thing that came to my mind is that Discovery in general must have been the product of an alternate timeline that would be revealed at some point*. Weird how the all powerful studio execs are struggling to do that now, after the fact, and that they can't figure out where to put it. Their judgment is impeccable, as always, just like their vision, their "values" and everything else. He he.
