The museum and Hougoumont. They are not too,far apart. Two hours is not a lot of time to spend on this most famous of fields but the walk along the ridge to Hougoumont will give you an impression. Enjoy. Chris |

Chris is correct. With such a short time, go to the 'new' museum which is excellent. If you have any tme left then walk along to Hougoumont which is about 15 minutes away. However, if you only have two hours, I suspect you will really only have time for one or the other. |

I assume you were at Spa for the race? So you get to visit possibly the best track in the world and an iconic battlefield in one weekend? Lucky er! |

Would love to hear how you got on………..If the weather is fine I would walk the ridge both sides of the Brussels/Charleroi Road, gaze down on LHS and enter Hougomont. Just possible in two hours. Heck, if it was pouring down I would still do that. |

We had a great time at the Lion Mound, La Haye Sainte and La Belle Alliance. Sore feet from the last 4 days walking up hill and down dale at Spa meant Laura didn't fancy going down to Hougomont. We will just have to come back next year :) |

Then you did cover some ground in a short time. Thanks for the response! The best trek is the diamond from the crossroads South East down to Smohain, Papelotte etc, then South West to La Belle All. Then North West up to the ridge, detour to the left to HGMT. Return North East to the museum, that awful Mound (never been up it yet) and the crossroads. Most can be done on Google Earth from your own PC! Hgmt has lost much in the restoration……desperately needed of course. It was about to collapse…. But the atmosphere is gone completely. |
