"On 21 August, the first day of the Army 2018 defence show being held in Kubinka near Moscow until 26 August, a new Kalashnikov assault rifle chambered for the 7.62×51 mm NATO round was unveiled to the public. This most recent addition to the latest generation of the Kalashnikov family of rifles has been designated as the AK-308. The military 7.62×51 mm round has been derived from the commercial .308 cartridge for .308 Winchester chambered AK-pattern semi-automatic rifles of the Saiga series, designated as the Saiga-308, which have been available on the civilian market for over a decade. On 20 August, the eve of the AK-308's official launch at Army-2018, the Kalashnikov Concern website showed a promotional video accompanied by an article on the AK-308. The AK-308 rifle featured in the video was of the AK-200 series pattern which was most likely an earlier prototype. The AK-200 series was originally designated as the AK-100M series until earlier in 2018, when it was rebranded…"

There are 3 of us, and we have 3 AK74 pattern rifles: RedJacket RS-KP which is my rifle Arsenal AK74 my son's Molot VEPR which is my husbands We shoot the AK74:s because when my husband served in Afghanistan(Kunar provance in 2009) the people the 173rd AB where fighting were armed primarily with the AK74. Its a great rifle. I like shooting because it has almost no kick, and as I am a little lady, that matters. |

I would just as soon have one of these or its derivatives - link link Such as the M2010 civilian version - link Available in .222, .223, .243, or .308. Not that the Russians don't make good AKs, but Zastave is quite well regarded as well and this version has been around for a while and is in use by millitaries around the world. |

Zastava is Jugoslav – link The M77 B1 in 7.62x51 came out originally in 1977 (couldn't tell that from the model number…). Missed getting the civilian version when they were imported in 14 and 15. Well reviewed at the time. Came in at $550 USD and when the imports stopped they went up from there. Run $750 USD up now. P.S. Zastava's plant in Kragujevac was founded in 1853. If you have seen the M24 Jugoslav Mausers, those were Zastava. |
