My problem is, I have a bunch of Hueys with the old laser-cut acrylic flight stands, and some with the new flight stands. Of course the two are incompatible with each other… |

As it looks like BF have stopped selling them separate from aircraft boxes , what are people using for non-BF planes in FOW/TY ? |

Topgun Dogfight Flight Stands – they work for even the Corgi, diecast metal, box-scale miniatures, like A-10s, Harrier GR.3s, etc., as well as for various scales of plastic and resin models, from 1/48th scale, to smaller ones. E-mail Topgungrav AT yahoo (d0t) c o m for an informational flyer. They come with swiveling heads, to permit virtually any attitude of diving, climbing, and banking flight to be represented, including even inverted maneuvers. Clear hex bases in 3", 4", and 5" sizes, measured flat to flat. link
Here's a link to some of them in action:

I'm using plastic wine glasses from the Dollar Store. Turn them upside down (drink the wine first…), and the bowl is your stand, put the plane on the base. |

There are also 2-part plastic wine glasses, so take the bowl off and use the stem as the mounting point for your model. |

BF appears to still have the flight stand for sale: XSO104 Flight Stand. Don't see the separate tall stand piece, though. You might want to call the BF office in your country. They may have some standard and tall stands in the back that they can grab for you. Local players may have extras, as well. Personally, I think the upside down plastic wine glass looks awful on the table (that's a lot of plastic!) but like the idea of using just the stem from a two-piece version. You could also make your own stand with a car antenna mounted to a simple base. Edit: found both standard and tall flight stands on the BF Vietnam website store: link (If the link is temporary, go to vietnam.team-yankee.com and search for "stand".) |
