True that. Yes, it is generally more "realistic" to have few to no AFVs in gaming. Unless you are refighting a tank battle of course, e.g. Kursk, Op Crusader, etc. I think the idea was for Harriers and 8" naval gunfire to take care of that problem. Yep … call in the big firepower ! |

It depends greatly on what theater and timeframe you are gaming. On either the East Front or ETO, in 1944 you are going to see tanks in most actions that are battalion or larger in size. Its just that you are not likely to see German tanks. Only allied tanks. Maybe German StuGs or other Pzr Jgr / JgPzrs, in some of those games. But actual German tanks should only show up in maybe 1 out of 10 scenarios. Unless, as you have noted, you are specifically gaming scenarios from one of the well known "tank" battles. I think the idea was for Harriers and 8" naval gunfire to take care of that problem. Yep … call in the big firepower !
Well, on this we might agree.
I'm told that there are few tactical circumstances that can not be improved by the generous application of firepower. -Mark (aka: Mk 1)

I'm told that there are few tactical circumstances that can not be improved by the generous application of firepower. Yes, back in the day, I was trained to call in and/or coordinate FA, mortars, CAS and Naval Gunfire. Even all at the same time !!!!! |
