At Historicon, I picked up a flyer that said Guns of August 2018 was scheduled for August 24-26 at the Virginia War Museum at Newport News.

I didn't see anything else about the convention since then, so I thought I would mention it here in the hopes that others with more information would respond.

Either way, enjoy the games.

Yes, it is… there is a Facebook page, though it's not had a whole lot on it either. It's my first time attending and I'm running two games on Saturday and one on Sunday (Beneath the Lily Banners, 1690). I was a little surprised about how little promotion it received… sort of a secret show…

Anyway, not sure what to expect, but I'll be there…

Thanks, Quindia.

I was going to mention the convention to some friends in the area, but wanted to confirm first that it was still a "go."

Enjoy your games.

These guys have had a rough couple years, but it looks like things are looking up. I'm not much impressed by this venue, but they're having Call to Arms in October at their traditional location and I already have my reservation

What was wrong with the venue?

The games get run between the museum exhibits while the museum is open. There could be a considerable upside to this in terms of growing the hobby, but it seems more to me like hosting a game in the lobby of a bus station. There is only 1 eatery within walking and the hotel options are almost all a couple of miles away. There are a few hotel options about 1 Mile out, but the best looking one of them is the one that is boarded up.

My teeth were cut at Historicon in Camp Hill. While the eating options there were also limited I became used to the idea of a con at a hotel with events, vendors and rooms all under the same roof.

Color me spoiled.
