There is a proposal to build a vehicle test track on the edge of Bosworth Field. Unbelievable I know but true. You can find more information about it in this Facebook Discussion here: link Details of the Planning Application are here: link Details of the planning meeting are here: link Coverage in the Local Paper: link You can help by writing to object, even though technically we've missed the date as the meeting isn't until Tuesday evening. Email sonia.dee@hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk . Make the point that this an internationally famous and important heritage site and one of the few battlefields in England that has no development on it, but in your own words so it doesn't sound like you are copying me. YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS. This is essential for a valid planning objection under UK legislation. The likes of the Battlefields Trust and Richard III Society are on the case as well, but real objections from real people carry real weight. Please help. Those of you who helped a few years back about the threat to Northampton battlefield did make a difference and we won that one. It is worth standing up and being counted. |

As someone who carries the same last name as the battlefield. I object. As a Yank, and a Californian at that, I doubt anyone cares that I object. |

@Korvessa: The argument that the battlefield is of international importance isn't hurt by people from other countries opposing its development. It is under the outward looking Tudor dynasty that England makes its first tentative steps into the New World. |

Is the threat to the "real" site of the battle? |

Is the threat to the "real" site of the battle? As far as I can tell from a comparison of the site map linked via the "Coverage in the local paper" link and the deployments map on The Battlefields Trust web site (Bosworth Battlefield new OS Explorer map link ), the proposed development is near but not actually on the real battlefield. It's actually where the legend is in the bottom left hand corner. |
