Hi all

I am looking for historically and anatomically correct (no big-headed dwarfs) figures for Alexander Nevsky and his army in 28mm.

I have found… nothing, or almost, by google. Any ideas?

Thanks and cheers,
Peter

Thanks, Condottiere – not bad at all. Even if Nevsky himself looks a bit old. He was around 20 years, I believe, at the time of the Lake Peipus battle…

I still have the option of remaining with 1/72 scale. (To explain this remark: I have switched all my areas of interest to 28mm because… well… my poor old eyes…! ;-))

Spoercken,

Here is another source of 28mm Rus from the time period, including Nevsky himself.

Have you looked at Gripping Beast line of Russian Princes figures?

I have some of those Mirilton Russians, very mice figures, slightly smaller than the Grippng Beast Russians I have.

Doesn't Old Glory make a line? Their pricing is quite good if you get the army card too.

Even if Nevsky himself looks a bit old.

Well, it's all that campaigning in cold weather--wore his skin out. ;-)

The Old Glory Kievan Rus' are for the earlier era, e.g. contemporaries of the Vikings. They are quite nice, FWIW.

For Nevsky, look under the Mongols in Europe code for appropriate Russians. I've seen the other Europeans from this range (Germans, Lithuanians, etc.) painted up and they're very good, but I've never laid eyes on the Russians.

Thanks to all, I think I will have a closer look at those Drabant Miniatures in 28mm sold by Old Glory. On the pics they are a little on the short side except the head, but the casting and historical accuracy seems great to me.
