I bought a bunch of decals from 5682 Miniatures a few years back. I just tried to start to use them but after cutting the decal as close as I can. There still is a white film round the decal. Not the clear film like all other decals that I have been using for over 50 years. old fart

And I can't even find their website to ask if I need to use something "special" to get them to be like every other decals I've used ! huh? No white film just clear ? huh?

Are they still in business ? huh? WDF !?!?! huh?

Sounds like the registration during printing is a little off-- typically most decals are underprinted with white to maintain color density and maintaining perfect registration is difficult. If they can't provide a better product you may just have to trim closer.

"Not the clear film like all other decals that I have been using for over 50 years."

Bet you never used any of the E. German or USSR decals from 40 yrs. ago. ;-)

White is a difficult color for small concerns to print. As a result many smaller concerns will print on white decal film if there is white anywhere in the design of the decal and yes it is a pain. I cut as close as possible (which can be more than trying with smaller decals). I then have to sometimes touch up the edges of the decal with paint. For example I had some shoulder patches for 15/20mm figures. Once applied I had to touch up with OD the edges to get rid of the white.

Thanks for the info … but again, I can't even contact them. Their website is no longer active … frown

And yes, I figured I may have to touch up the decal, by painting over the white. But this is the very first time I've run into this. frown Looks like the decals are printed entirely on the white sheet with no clear edges around the decals. Like all the other decals I have worked with for over 5 decades … old fart

And not being able to contact them only Bleeped text me off that much more ! knife noose

I assume you are referring to their Sci-Fi stuff because next to nothing for historical.

Two small US and one small German sheet of items easily available from many other sources. No Russian or UK. Will keep on eye on this site as that might change.

Yes, I don't think 5628 is in biz anymore. If my experience with their decals is what they make. I can see why they are no longer in in biz. If I would have know this I would not have bought them.

Regardless, I'm working with the 5628 "decals(?)" … frown

I've seen Fighting Piranha stuff … pretty nice !

I bought some historical and some sci-fi from 5628. I use some historical on my Sci-fi too … evil grin

E.g. …

Note these are not 5628 decals for the 101 … evil grin
