I found little in the way of uniform information for this regiment. One deserter description mentioned drab or light colored coats while another mentioned a blue coat. I went with drab brown with blue facings. Musicians are in reversed colors of blue faced drab brown. Conjecture in my part but based on what little information I could find. Didn't he Regimental Colors I used the Grand Union with a blue Gostelowe flag. Both types of flags were used during the time.

I'm extremely careful when it comes to giving flags to my Continental Regiments. My first priority is that they look good. grin

If I wish to strive for authenticity for Gostelowe standards, Richardson gives some plausible reasons for choosing flags by state, based on state "heraldry", designs on state seals, worthless scrip, etc.
Of course, if I used up the red one on the sheet, I then use the green one.
I'll admit. My Continental regiments, unlike my British, are very generic. This is because of the difficulty in consistent uniforms which could vary considerably, short lives of the regiments, frequent consolidation, and so on.

That off my chest, yours look great. grin

Gee. I hope I didn't sound like Madonna's eulogy of Aretha…

Mr. Smith,
Don't you mean Madonna's tribute to Madonna?
23rd. Your boys look very nice indeed; much better than mine. But then I can say that to just about anybody's AWI. H

When I started out I put two flags with Continental units but now I doubt any of them carried two flags. So did some switching around to show one flag. I still have a few with two. With Gostelowe standards I am doing what was suggested above and that is the only flag that regiment will have.

Winston, as in all things gaming Rev War I agree with you. Since there is so very little information about American flags I usually fall back on what is available historically. And the Gostelowe ones are far too good not to use.

I follow your and Richardson's advice with posting a flag to a state with something that goes with it. Also I try and match flag color to facing color. But once I run out of a color I will not worry my head too.much about that. Hence the mailed fist For Massachusetts. For my Maryland and Virginia regiments 1780-81 I fall back on the type flags captured by Tarleton.

I agree flags were probably not carried that often in the field. But I like the look of two flags with my war game regiments and that is what I go with. After all this is why I play with you soldiers and not cardboard counters.
