I can't find anything much that describes their clothing.

I guess you can't go too far wrong by painting them in the ubiquitous hodden grey?

A good question. I have 6 of them that are next on my to paint list after these 12 Perry Trotters.

I tend to go to figure manufacturer sites and just look at their photo's for painting color choices. I am no purest…

I think hodden grey uniforms and blue bonnets is pretty much fine

Kircudbright's wore buff coats.
As for the rest? The fact that coat colours aren't mentioned might suggest that they were the normal hodden grey. I would expect commentary to mention the out of the ordinary, hence we know K's wore buff coats.

Definitive text on this is: Edward M. Furgol's A Regimental History of the Covenanting Armies 1639-1651

Thank you. I quite like the idea of buff coats.

Apologies, not sure if those are 'buff' coats or woollen coats that are buff coloured. I'd guess the former

Probably leather buff coats when they converted to dragoons from foot and joined the Western association. I don't think it's clear whether these buff coats were a 'one off' or whether it was an expected thing for Scots dragoons. Means you can be happy painting them with or without I think.
