…City He Deserves.

"Taking a cue from SUVs, fast food joints, and smartphones, Lego continues its Master Builder Series supersizing efforts with this new Betrayal at Cloud City set that clocks in at a hefty 2,812-pieces and recreates multiple scenes from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. It even includes Slave 1 so Boba Fett can haul Solo's frozen body off to Jabba…."

$350.00 USD!!! It's Lego's version of Games Workshop pricing. You know I actually remember a time gone by when ordinary folk could actually buy Lego sets. Seems it's become pretty much a luxury to get anything beyond the smallest sets.

I remember back in the late 70s into the mid-80s when their first giant medieval castle sets, which came in a yellow and gray version. They even had real, working draw bridges with rope you could lower and raise. Those mega-sets were $50.00 USD and that was considered a HUGE price tag for that time. But you got a bunch of pieces in those sets. And if I recall correctly you got a whole bunch of soldiers, both foot and mounted. Had to be 20+ figures if not more.

Dang, times have changed.

Inflation, more pieces in this set, more specialized pieces in this set, and exorbitant licensing fees. Doesn't seem out of line.

I bought the Disney Castle for $350. USD Well worth it in terms of value.
You really can't compare prices know vs the70s and 80's. Just look at raw plastic prices.

I am counting at least 19 mini-figures here. 2812 elements.

I think you are just wrong on this. Yes it has a high price because it is a very large set. A quick look at all the old Castle sets on BrickLink revealed none above 1000 pieces and most with only half the number of figures.

It is a myth that Lego is more expensive now. Collectors and enthusiasts have proved this time over in YouTube comparison videos.

The new xwing is 80 bucks, I'd go for that before this.
