I've decided to shift my 28mm sci-fi focus to be more "inclusive" of different aspects of my collection, so I'm after input or advice that may apply. The goal is to create a background that is a mix of; 1) 2300 AD 2) The Expanse 3) Firefly 4) Dark Matter Figures will primarily be human, and I'm using Warlord Concord for the United Earth forces. Mantic GCPS will be the Martian Republic, and a mix of Sedition Wars and MERCS:Recon will serve as various corporations.
Any sources of good realistic or Hard Sci-Fi figures available? Drones, Modern figures with G36 or Kriss Vector's? Good sources armed civilians that could fit into the universe? Basically just trying to brainstorm here. Thanks! |

Pig iron minis are great for hard sf. |

Maybe some of the EM4 range: link Not very "hard sci-fi", but close in some cases, Warzone: link They all suffer from "big shoulder pad syndrome" but may fit your needs. Rebel Minis Earth Force: link For drones, you could probably get away with Ground Zero's 15mm drones, or it may not be to your liking. |

I have a huge box filled with 200-300 of the Warzone plastics, but in this project I'm looking for more "realistic" miniatures, that will fit with the slimmer aesthetic of the Mantic or Infiniti-type minis. Nothing chunky, if it can be avoided. I'll check out the drones though! |

Some of Khurasans 28mm sci fi figures fit your requirements.

Eisenkern Stormtroopers by Dreamforce Games link Old Glory/Blue Moon mercenaries from their Aliens and Spacemen range might also serve you well. link |

Those Denizen models are outstanding. Too bad they're not heroic scale 28s… |

Flash: Any source for good replacement heads on the Eisenkern? I've got 80 of them in a box, but the "Germans-in-Spaaaace" helmet doesn't really go with the look I want. |

Pig Iron for figs. Pig Iron for head swaps. Special Artizan Service Miniatures has some good looking moderns. |

Mantic has drones for the Asterians, and one for the mercs in Star Saga. |

With the Warlord Summer sale, I picked up 34 sprues of the Concord Squads, so that gives me a ton of drone-bodies to work with. I'm also thinking of using some Tau drones from 40k. Also just ordered some of the Alternate System Trooper heads from Pig Iron for the Eisenkern bodies. Those will become Martian Recon Marines, in heavy Vac-suits. Anyone know of any good 28mm robots that resemble Chappy, or the Elysium security 'bots? |

Give Anvil miniatures a look also CP models Great models from both Glen |

I like the look of the CP Models Near-Future troopers, and I might use them as Colonial Militia. Also, I went back and picked up 34 of the Warlord Modern Infantry sprue from their sale. I might use extra Mantic and Concord heads to make troops that aren't in Vac-Suits, and add some of the Mantic marine arms to give them a more sci-fi look. I think I'll also be modding some of the AK arms to have rail-guns like the CTAC Praetorians in Altered Carbon. Does anyone know if White Dragon Miniatures intend to release their figures in 28mm?

There are some robots by Copplestone with the blocky heads (like less curvy 40k necrons or terminator endoskeletons) that might do for a "chappie" or elysium security bot look. |

Human Interface Nakamura Tower makes some good minis, too. Excellent drones, significantly cheaper than Infinity. Most of the rest of the HINT minis are really what I'd call civvies, they don't have all the body armor and long guns that the actual military troops would have. Maelstrom's Edge also has some drones you could use. |
